Our guiding principles

Just as each client’s personality and needs differ, so too do our design concepts.  No two are ever the same.

We draw upon colour, light, texture and the other classic design principles. All these elements are sensitively layered within each space to introduce vitality and atmosphere, whilst ensuring balance and cohesion. At the same time, we devise an overall composition and flow so that design fluidity is not lost between rooms. We deliver bold and expressive spaces, that immerse and delight, whilst retaining a profound sense of harmony and deep personal relevance.

Functionality is interwoven with design. The homes and interior spaces we create are liveable as well as elegant and inviting, reflecting our belief that a space should be practical as well as beautiful.

Context is important to us too. We carefully consider the character, history and location of a building - as well as the people it serves - to ensure a true sense of design relevance to our finished projects, whilst remaining respectful of each property’s identity.

A central tenet of our approach is procuring the highest quality of craftmanship and sourcing bespoke furnishings. Where appropriate, we will sensitively incorporate client’s existing sentimental pieces or antiques into a redesign, harmoniously layering the old with the new.

Our holistic approach naturally gives rise to an authentic interpretation of our client’s needs and desires. We elevate spaces to inspire and delight, whilst retaining warmth, personality and an immutable sense of belonging.

How we work

Our process always starts and ends with the client.

At the outset, we listen. Interpreting a client’s brief – by understanding needs, desires and challenges - provides the framework upon which our creative efforts will hang. Consideration is given to the efficiency of space, the flow within a building, visual preferences, sentimental possessions, as well as lifestyle or other usage requirements.

Next, we reflect and investigate. We draw heavily on research – taking inspiration from timeless designs - whilst providing a fresh, bespoke and modern aesthetic, and always remaining sympathetic to a building’s identity. Considered design concepts are devised for each space and the building overall. Mood board presentations ensure alignment of a scheme’s direction with the threads of an initial vision.

Our detailed design work is often performed in conjunction with architects, structural engineers, as well as joiners, upholsterers and other third-party suppliers. This process ensures for a robust and considered design, whilst eliminating construction issues even before they arise.

From concept creation, we remain committed and engaged through to a project’s completion. Overseeing trade professionals and managing the day-to-day project installation works comprise an important component of our end-to-end service. In so doing, we ensure an enjoyable and rewarding process for the client, as well as a timely and well-managed delivery of the end result.

How we came to be

With interior designer and antique collector parents, founder Bryony Richardson was immersed in the principles of good design from a young age. Attending fairs, auctions and trade shows, she discovered a natural affinity for fabrics, fixtures and furniture – both old and new – and an understanding of their response to the language of light and to space within an architectural context.

As a professional, Bryony has honed her craft over more than 20 years. She has delivered a diverse range of projects, including high-end residential town houses and countryside homes, post-production TV studios in Soho London, as well as a destination homeware shop.

She also assisted the lifestyle retailer, Anthropologie, during its successful penetration of the UK market as part of its overseas expansion from its native US shores.

Bryony attended KLC School of Interior Design, London.

Although originally based in London and the South-West of England, Bryony now lives in Jersey, Channel Islands. Her studio continues to deliver its work - creating warm and expressive spaces, steeped in authenticity and atmosphere - for clients in the UK and overseas, as well as for those on-island.
